Well, unfortunately it's a bit of a mess. Without getting too personal, my flatmate / native Japanese proof reader has had to move back to Japan. This actually happened a month or so back, but I have been a bit busy and preoccupied. So, where does this leave the project? Personally I would really like to carry on as I'm enjoying the manga and as far as I know, no one else is translating it. However, I don't really have the confidence in my Japanese to "go it alone" without my flatmates help and constant guidance about the cultural side of things. SO! Basically, I've been thinking to try to join up with a group somewhere, that way we can get back on this horse. Ideally, I would prefer to work as an editor and proof reader, however that leaves the difficult task of finding another Japanese > English translator, which probably isn't all that easy. I also have zero know-how of the scanlation scene. So, I ask for your help a bit here, if you are in a group, or know of a group that might be interested in picking this up with me on board as an editor, please get in touch with me or put them in touch with me at scotcheggz@hotmail.co.uk

If we can work something out, this would speed up the Moteki output by a ton, I translate very slowly, but I can edit the shit out of those pages at a good speed and to a relatively decent level. Having people involved who understand the scene would also really help with the release side of things too as I said before, I don't usually read manga, let alone scanlate them, so knowledge of the scenes workings is essentially non-existant.

So, that is that, I really hope we can get back on this soon, it's such a good manga and I've been enjoying working on this so far and hope it can continue. Apologies for making people wait so long, I hope I can get this sorted and help to provide you guys with the rest of the manga soon!

First and foremost, apologies for the delay in any updates to the Moteki translation. Things got on top of me with work and I use much of the same tools for cleaning and editing Moteki as I do for work, so as you can imagine, when the day is done, I don't really feel like sitting back down at my desk and starting work again...


Excuses out of the way though, I have been slowly getting through it and hope to release the full volume 1 very soon. That will take us from chapter 3 right up to chapter 7 plus the bonus material at the end of the volume! So I hope you all look forward to that soon, with a spot of luck it will be up by the weekend, but mid next week latest is a more conservative estimate. There is some beautiful artwork coming up, in chapter 4 especially.

So I thought I would release the first three chapters of Moteki, it's 96 pages long (about half of the first volume). I hope you enjoy it. I wasn't planning on releasing partial volumes, but I thought perhaps it would be better to release them chapter by chapter, then at the end of a volume, release a re-pack with all chapters. I wasn't really sure of the best place to put it, so it's up on megaupload and Hotfile (apologies if this is supershit). I'm not using any affiliate nonsense or anything, so feel free to ask me to host it elsewhere if this doesn't work for you. It's only 26MB though, so you should be alright without an account.

UPDATE: Kubo and anon in the comments recommended Mediafire as a host, so I've added that as an option, the Mediafire download is also the updated version where I fixed some of the small spelling/grammar mistakes I left in. If you've already read the megaupload/hotfile version, you're not missing anything, but if you haven't read it yet, I would say the Mediafire version is the best option. Sorry for the confusion.

Following on from my last post, here is the second girl Fujimoto gets involved with, Nakushiba Itsuka. Getting quite tense with this one, but she's no Aki Doi if you ask me...

So now my work has become less busy, I've decided to crack on with Moteki. I've managed to do about 40 pages in the last day or so, so it's going well. Here is an image of the first girl Fujimoto crosses paths with, Aki Doi. She goes to Fuji Rock festival, so she's alright with me...

I've decided to have a go at scanlating. I don't want to bang on about my history, but I've never really been into manga before and only read 1 or 2 series. I decided to try scanlating as a Kanji excercise, since reading manga, it turns out, is a fuck of a lot more interesting than reading thousands of post-it notes.

My Japanese is alright and I live with a Japanese native speaker, so I will be doing all the editing, translating etc and she will be checking my translations and helping me with obscure Japanese culture references, so I hope to be able to provide some decent translations.

I'm starting on "Moteki". It seems excellent so far and the art style is lovely. I hope you'll enjoy it.
